Managing Board

Frank P. Averdung

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)*

Frank Averdung graduated from RWTH Aachen with a degree in Electrical Engineering before beginning his professional career in the semiconductors division of Siemens AG in 1985. After various positions in Germany and abroad, the native Rhinelander took worldwide responsibility for the 32-bit microprocessors range as a Product Marketing Manager. In 1990 Averdung changed to National Semiconductor as a Corporate Marketing Manager for two years before moving on to ITT Semiconductor in 1992, first as Marketing Director US & Far East and later as Director of the American subsidiary. Before taking over as the Managing Director of the European ETEC Systems companies in 1999, Frank Averdung worked as a General Manager at Applied Materials in Munich for three years. From 2003 to 2006, as CEO of NaWoTec GmbH, Mr. Averdung substantially contributed to the successful development of the mask equipment business for the semiconductor industry and the later integration of the company into Carl Zeiss Semiconductor Metrology Systems (SMS).

Before his appointment to the SUSS MicroTec AG Management Board, Frank Averdung was the Managing Director of Carl Zeiss SMS GmbH, Jena, and President and General Manager of Carl Zeiss SMT Inc., Peabody, Massachusetts, USA.

Michael Knopp

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)*

Upon completion of his business administration studies at the University of Bayreuth, Michael Knopp started out on his professional career as an auditing assistant at the auditing company Wollert-Elmendorff Deutsche Industrie-Treuhand GmbH. In the year 1996, the native of Münster assumed the role of financial analyst at Sensormatic Electronics GmbH., Ratingen, where he was responsible for the coordination, consolidation, and analysis of quarterly and annual financial statements of the European subsidiaries. Following two years of employment in subsidiary management at Gerresheimer Glas AG, Michael Knopp took over the commercial management of REALTECH AG, located in Walldorf, in 1999, where he was appointed to the position of Chief Financial Officer in the year 2001. He was additionally responsible for the national companies in the Asia-Pacific region and USA, where he successfully implemented a complete turnaround and reorientation.

Before assuming his position as Chief Financial Officer at SUSS MicroTec AG, Mr. Knopp was commercial managing director of Kemmax GmbH located in Essen, as well as CFO of International Operations of the Canadian parent company Chemtrade Logistics.

Supervisory Board

Dr. Stefan Reineck

Chairman of the Supervisory Board *

Dr. Stefan Reineck began his career at LEYBOLD AG, an international plant construction company for the semiconductor and data storage industry, where he ultimately held the position of Division Manager for Data Storage Technology Facilities. This holder of a doctorate in physics subsequently assumed management control of Quartz Crystal Technology GmbH, a small-to-medium-sized manufacturer of equipment for the telecommunications industry. From 2002 to 2006, he served as Spokesman of the Management Board of STEAG HamaTech AG, which specializes in the production of optical storage media and photomasks. After leaving this position, he became a management consultant. From April to September 2007, Dr. Stefan Reineck was an interim member of the Management Board of SUSS MicroTec AG before joining its Supervisory Board in October 2007.

Jan Teichert

Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board *

Jan Teichert began his career at a well-known accounting and auditing firm in Munich, Germany. In 1999, the business graduate transitioned from auditing to the operational business of the globally-oriented, stock exchange-listed Lindner Holding KGaA. There, he acted as authorized representative for finance and made a substantial contribution to the successful realignment of the finance department. Since January 2003, he has been a member of the Board of directors of Einhell Germany AG, where he serves as Chief Financial Officer.

Aside from his membership in the Supervisory Board of SUSS MicroTec AG, Mr. Teichert is not a member of any other supervisory board or comparable domestic or foreign board of directors.

Sebastian Reppegather

Member of the Supervisory Board *

Following his studies in International Business Administration, Sebastian Reppegather started his professional career in 1995 with KPMG Corporate Finance where he advised corporate clients and financial investors on M&A and private equity transactions. From 2000 to 2004 Mr. Reppegather worked as an Investment Director in the German private equity industry. After that, he was a Managing Director of the investment advisory company to an investment fund for several years before he was also appointed to the Executive Board of an investment corporation with a focus on the management of a stock portfolio in September 2006. In addition, Mr. Reppegather had been an advisor to the investment arm of a family office since the end of 2007. Since November 2008, he has been an Investment Director with Fidinam S.A., Lugano and since April 2009 also a Managing Director of IED Beteiligungs-GmbH, Frankfurt.

Mr. Reppegather is a member of the following Supervisory Boards and comparable domestic and foreign supervisory bodies:
